Especially since--you probably saw this--one of the most recent mixes on fanmix was for Tom/Luna. Yes, that Tom and that Luna. I can't even comprehend it. I thought about it for a couple seconds and something in my brain just broke.
It's certainly possible. *cries* Emily and Teddy were divorced (and there wasn't any scandal about it, either, which there would've been, back then), and Ilse was dead, for no good reason I can find, and Emily had a daughter named Ilse, hitting square on one of my most bothersome pet peeves (next-gen fics in which all of the children are named after characters' parents/best friends/other important people, especially if they died tragically), and then Dean showed up, and he was written all wrong, and Emily had some Sue friend, and it was...TRAUMITISING, OKAY? *fetal position*
Oh, and let's not forget the one Dean-fic that might have been really good except for the implied Dean/Douglas Starr. Yeah. *whimpers* That is wrong on far too many levels to count.
