Yay, steampunk. I think I've known vaguely what it is for quite a while but didn't specifically look it up until...let me see...the guy who does the Doctor Who recaps on Televsion Without Pity made a reference to it during the "empire of the wolf" bit in the recap for "Tooth & Claw," and I realized that while I've never read any real steampunk (well...somebody mentioned A Series of Unfortunate Events, but I don't think it's quite that), I'd love to. It sounds awesome. (Well, and [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's Black Ribbon thing is apparently steampunk, but I never read much of it...the format was a little too confusing, plus I didn't have time.) And that thing from Gaiman's site is...interesting. I don't quite know what to think of it, really. It looks very awesome, but it doesn't really get anywhere, and it's all sort of postmodernistly pointless, and guh. I don't know.

I haven't read any Anne Rice. I probably should, just to see what she's like, and because, you know, vampires. Or much Montgomery, because I am a bad person. And I'm curious now: when did you discover Neil Gaiman? 'Cause I keep hearing things about him from [livejournal.com profile] charismitaine, [livejournal.com profile] mermaidrain, and [livejournal.com profile] honorh, but I haven't read any of his stuff, even though I'd like to dig up the Sandman graphic novels.

watching Oberon come stalking up the aisle two feet away from you in his leather sleeveless trenchcoat to music that sounded like anthemic gothy folk rock.

Anthemic gothy folk rock...that sounds very, very cool.

(Er, and your second bootsquee link doesn't work, BTW.)

So you're basically making a mix for a fanfic you still haven't finished? ^-^ Well, no, not really, I suppose. But still. And, um...I feel like I have at least one song that would be perfect, and I can't for the life of me think what song it might be. Um, you have all the Emiliana Torrini songs I do; with a name like "Fisherman's Woman," one of those would probably work. I'll let you know if I think of anything.

Re. [livejournal.com profile] leandra_erin: Lovely pictures. That one of Heidi is fantastic--you should put it up on dA. (Er, and she looks a lot like I did at that age, weirdly enough, except my hair wasn't quite that dark.)
