You amuse me. Are you looking for depressing? :P I've got some wistful ones...
Let Me Fall by Josh Groban is kind of depressing. I'm Not That Girl from Wicked. You're Still You by Josh Groban. Home to Stay by Josh Groban. Remember When it Rained by Josh Groban. Remember by Josh Groban. February Song by Josh Groban. Full of Grace by Sarah McLachlan.
I think I'll just stop there with Full of Grace. ;)

Also Eric's Song, Lovers Dream, and Such Great Heights, but I'm fairly certain that you have all of them. If don't have one of them, I'd be happy to upload it for you. =)

Not exactly a love song, but 'Farewell (http://www.mediafire.com/?mm20ymdgvf0)' by Rosie Thomas has sad and wistful down.
Instrumental: 'Deep River (http://www.mediafire.com/?rmidm91g1am)' by Louise Trotter 'Eleanor Plunkett (http://www.mediafire.com/?wmw4mpj1356)' by Deanta (after Turlough O'Carolan)
Right. I'm not good for acoustic stuff, but I've got some. All of my more devastating songs aren't precisely acoustic.
Cocoon, Jack Johnson - http://www.mediafire.com/?myxmgmx2yw3 Yesterday's Feelings, The Used - http://www.mediafire.com/?tlkxgxcn13y Said and Done, Eighteen Visions - http://www.mediafire.com/?ctvvmmlxppg Roses On My Grave, Papa Roach (not exactly acoustic, but enough, and it's wonderfully touching) - http://www.mediafire.com/?s5zhzzjnbw0 Flames, VAST - http://www.mediafire.com/?jlt2tlr1zjs Smother Me, The Used (ignore the little "bonus track on the end of this) - http://www.mediafire.com/?loxxmt1zzjg
And this is not acoustic, but I had to include it because it's positively beautiful. Gorecki, Lamb - http://www.mediafire.com/?bjylyjcxjy3
The one that gets me as acoustically devastating is Eva Cassidy's "Songbird" (my copy is from the "Love Actually" soundtrack--SO need more of her music!). But it depends on what "type" of love song you're looking for. ;)
Just in case you ever decide to watch Angel, I don't want to give too many specifics, but you know those really quiet songs that just RIP YOUR HEART OUT? And after you listen to them you just lie on your back for a while and can't say anything? (And, okay, the general theme is mostly grief, and the death of a lover, and SOMEHOW CLAIR DE LUNE SEEMS RIDICULOUSLY APPROPRIATE AUGH SOMEONE TAKE THE DEBUSSY AWAY BEFORE I HURT MYSELF.)
WES/FRED, OF COURSE. PRETTY MUCH THE MOMENT I FINISHED "A HOLE IN THE WORLD" I COULD NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING EXCEPT ACHINGLY SAD PIANO BALLADS AND SO WAS FORCED TO MAKE A MIX. (GO LISTEN TO "RECESSIONAL" AND THEN COME BACK. BECAUSE, OMG.) ONLY I HAVE PATCHES THAT NEED TO BE FILLED IN, SO. :P
Here's "Clair de Lune". (http://www.mediafire.com/?mbzzwcrtetp). Now explain to me why it is somehow irrevocably connected to Angel in my head? o.O
Hm, well, I think St. Vincent's "All My Stars Aligned" is sort of perfect at least in parts, what with all the "my charms and amulets can't bring you back" bits. I also feel like some Sufjan and possibly some PJ Harvey and Yann Tiersen should be in there but I don't quite know why. And you can be assured that this will keep on bubbling in my subconscious and I'll be coming back with recommendations for this mix until you're like "OKAY ENOUGH ALREADY."
Okay, so, I feel like The Fray should be in there even though they're kind of popular, because they're pretty much acoustic and some of their songs kind of make me want to cry sometimes because they just sound so sad. The only problem is that "Hundred" and "Vienna," which probably fit the best as far as sound goes, only fit in parts ("Vienna" more so, I guess), while Oceans Away (http://www.mediafire.com/?2tzy9wbxhm1) fits far better lyrically but the sound doesn't work so well.
But but but, The Poems' Ballad of a Bitter End, (http://www.mediafire.com/?vmsz2ddhszn) which I pretty much stumbled across randomly on my iPod last night after having never listened to it before, is very pretty and possibly kind of perfect--okay, more about a breakup than a death, but it can be twisted to fit, yeah? Also I have a strong feeling that one of my many instrumental tracks would work well, like God Is an Astronaut, so I'm sure I'll listen with those in mind.
ETA: And clearly, even if something by one of those doesn't work, you'll need some Linford Detweiler on there, 'cause...I can't think of any piano instrumentals that sound sadder. Actually hang on, I've got some that might--uh, I'll have to listen. More. Hm. (And it needs some Sarah Slean if it hasn't got any for sure. Also Over the Rhine.)
I dunno, the Fray has a really polished sound, not a lot of stripped-down songs, and so far the songs that collected are really -- raw. My aesthetic instinct is "really quiet songs that kind of make you feel like you've been gutted".
Yeeeees! Linford Detweiler is perfect. Only now I have to anally sort through my tracks, because it has to sound right, but the title also has to fit. You know. :p Sarah Slean I've also been tossing around, though exact songs are fairly difficult. I'm thinking about "Your Wish Is My Wish".
I like "Ballad of a Bitter End" a lot, but it just doesn't...sound broken up enough. It's sad, but not especially gutting. But hey, free music. ;) And, blargh, I was really hoping the Swell Season would give me something, because they sound right, and Glen Hansard's voice wrings emotion out of you like nothing else, but none of their subjects are SAD enough, drat it! Sufjan Stevens is also an excellent suggestion; I will have to scan lyrics.
And I KNOW, there are two St. Vincent songs that are practically perfect, lyrically, both "All My Stars Aligned" and "Land Mines", but neither of them will gell with the other songs on the playlist. I'm more than a bit irritated with them. Though I might be able to steer "All My Stars Aligned" in there if I try hard enough -- that cello bit with the drums near the end kills me.
So far, my playlist contains:
I Want You To Be My Love - Over the Rhine, for the bit right before everything goes to pieces. And because it leads nicely into the heartbreak. Cold Water - Damien Rice. Not quite sure about this one yet, but it sounds right, anyway. Someone Else's Tomorrow - Patty Griffin. Dark piano piece, kind of reminds me of Tori Amos crossed with over the Rhine. Recessional - Vienna Teng. Oh, Regina Spektor's Field Below just cropped up as a potential. Hmm. Oh, and possibly "Clair De Lune". *facepalm*
Well, "Land Mines" has a spot on my future Lucy Saxon mix and I can't think of something that works for "All My Stars Aligned" but it really has to go on a mix sometime, so. >_< The lyrics for "In the Devil's Territory" aren't bad for a Sufjan song, although I'm not sure about the sound.
For instrumentals, though, try some of these on for size: Håkon Austbø & Truls Mørk - Sonata for Cello and Piano II. Cavatine Trés Calme (http://www.mediafire.com/?ejod1mzmzcs) I heard this played live in a chamber music concert--originally by Poulenc, and I loved it so much I asked the people playing it who else did it well. It's gorgeous, for one thing, but it also sounds like--well, a soundtrack really, of a dry autumn day and dead leaves blowing across the floor of an abandoned house or...something.
These are probably too polished, but anyway they're pretty and everyone can always use more God Is an Astronaut, so have them anyway: Dust and Echoes (http://www.mediafire.com/?bozzfyuvtqz) Suicide by Star (http://www.mediafire.com/?xvxxo2c4owm) A Deafening Distance (http://www.mediafire.com/?mdgxybuxmwu)
Don Peris - Flyer (http://www.mediafire.com/?mg5xo9ddwfn) Don Peris is the male half of Innocence Mission, although she sings in some of the songs. Several are instrumental, like this one.
I think I gave you Webern's Five Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 10, 3: Very Slow and Extremely Calm (http://www.mediafire.com/?3g2ctpmrxfz) earlier, but that might not be bad. *shrug*
Estradasphere - Six Hands (http://www.mediafire.com/?t5h1mifcrn2) This has nothing to do with anything, and you might already have it since it was on audiography. But if you don't you should. CIRCUSY MUSIC.
Ummm...I feel like there's something from one of Switchfoot's early CDs that would work, like...well, okay, I want to suggest "Concrete Girl" just because of the name and the whole fact that Fred's skin was hardened and all. Buuut I don't know. I think they might have some that would work on one of their first three though. I also feel like Tori Amos, Anna Ternheim, Emiliana Torrini, and Beth Orton might have something good but I couldn't find the right lyrics. Actually I didn't look hard enough. >_< Aaaand I know it was already in Buffy but Angie Hart's "Blue" is awfully sad-sounding and stuff. And I don't know if the sound works but I feel like Snow Patrol's "If I'd Found the Right Words To Say" (http://www.mediafire.com/?dbmmgvtzmnh) might be okay.
Um, and because Margot and the Nuclear So & So's should be on more mixes, I went and re-read lyrics (and decided, for one, that "A Sea Chanty of Sorts," much as I love it, can't even be twisted to fit Buffy/Angel, although "Dress Me Like a Clown" probably can) and I think "Talking in Code" could work. I mean, again, probably really about breakup, but it's vague enough that it could be about death.
SEE I TOLD YOU I WOULD KEEP COMING BACK UNTIL YOU'RE COMPLETELY SICK OF MY SUGGESTIONS.
