Death Note, heh...I haven't watched it, but warriorofshadow loaned me the first volume of the manga version, and I thought it was...well, I don't know, it just made me sort of uncomfortable. The main character is an amoral high-school student who is sort of killing people for a good reason but is mostly doing it because he's bored--too smart and too cool for everyone else--and then gets into it and pretty much decides to set himself up as a god. He's...not exactly a very likable protagonist. (You should try Full Metal Alchemist. Really. It's got magic, and I do love me some brothers. Ed and Al are about as awesome as Sam and Dean, though in different ways.)
