I hope you have a splendid time, darling! (Or had, probably, by the time you get this.) I envy you the Nickel Creek, and am sure I'd envy the others as well, were I familiar with them. ^^
And at least you shall be pining somewhere where others shall be pining as well. I live in fear of spoilers, as I've currently not got a day off until next Thursday, and am certain some awful soul shall come into the shop and tell me what happens in Deathly Hallows before I've got a chance to go pick up my copy and begin reading.
I've always found something comforting about sleeping in the car: kicking off shoes, attempting to get comfortable around the seatbelts, cuddling up with a coat or three, and waking up a bit disconcerted to the bright light of a gas station (or a motel or a front porch light) and the odd stillness of a no-longer-moving vehicle and a different song than the one you fell asleep to. (That was a fair bit of my childhood, right there.) (That said, there are few things better, in my view, than driving and driving for hundreds of miles, road stretched out before you, eyes flicking back and forth between your mirrors and the cars ahead of and behind yours and the person at your side.)
