I love how when I make a post saying "comment here and you get things from me!", everybody comments. (Give me another day or two and I'll send out the poor tattered NaNo for consideration.)

Work = better today. A steady stream of customers is always pleasing (though the Christmas muzak the mall's been playing since Thanksgiving ended is about to make me go spare), and four people complimented my hair. One of them was Santa. And, there was fresh, moist, and very luscious chocolate cake in the back room after work. Yay!

So, I have a problem. Since November ended, I haven't been able to write. At all. Like, I think about trying to write, and I start to feel a little sick. It is kind of worrisome. I did not realise that NaNo was going to take that much out of me. I planned to take a break from That Novel for a week or two, but I also planned to work on some other projects, you know? All that productivity -- don't want to lose it, you know? So here's what I'll do. You know the old ficwriter's meme: give me a character from a fandom I'm in, and I'll tell you three pieces of my personal canon about them. (Unless they're reallllly obscure characters. I have no personal canon about Ioreth of the Houses, for example, or that one vampire with the glasses that Spike had translating the text for Drusilla's cure. Although I do have a considerable amount of personal canon about the werewolf in Arthur Weasley's ward in St. Mungo's at Christmastime, so, you know.) It's like writing, except not. Little steps, yeah?

Fandoms include: Jossverse (pretty much all of it), Tolkien, Harry Potter, Emily of New Moon, Doctor Who, Pushing Daisies, and ... um? Isn't there something else? There are a lot of things I love, but not all of these am I comfortable circumnavigating in a fandomy sort of way. Sunshine would totally be a fandom if McKinley's editor allowed fanfiction, so I suppose you could always throw that in, although me trying to guess anything about Con that we didn't get told in the first place would be about as simple as trying to guess what the moon's thinking, honestly.

Go!

Oh, I don't know what fandoms you're into or otherwise I'd be spamming you with suggestions...

Okay, I see you edited to include your fandoms. Please, show me some Emily fandom. Perry, perhaps?

It's only been two days since November ended. And you got a considerable amount of writing done last month. Don't beat yourself up; it will come back.

And now I choose....Reinette. *grins*

The paradox of nano... It uses up your writing juice so that you have to take a break to refresh your creative spirit and ability to express yourself properly. But it also gets you all worked up and ready to go.

Character: Valentine Wiggin.

...what?

Ooh, I'd love any and all Firefly personal canon you might have, perhaps especially Kaylee?

Oh, the post-NaNo slump is indeed rough (and I didn't even make it to 50,000 words and still feel wrung out!) Maybe if you tried switching methods (handwritten as opposed to typing etc.), or tried something very basic and concrete and probably boring like 'describe the cup of tea sitting on the table in front of you' (and then expand upon its scheme for world domination...) just to get yourself going? Or, if you wish, three pieces of your personal canon about Mel, from Sunshine. (I'm personally beginning to develop a theory that he knows Cormac from Carrie Vaughan's Kitty books, which are complete guilty pleasure reading, but somehow really charming.)

Tish. & Tom Milligan (am I the only one who has trouble referring to Tom Milligan as strictly Tom?)

i. When Martha and Tish were little, Martha used to lead epic games like "so, we're trying to find a cure for yellow fever and we INFECT OURSELVES" and then they have to stagger around their bedroom pretending to be dying of yellow fever for the good of the cause, and then Martha vaccinates everyone and saves the world. For most of her childhood, Tish had a vague paranoia about diseases.

ii. Tish likes noisy, noisy, noisy indie chick rock. When she's had a bad day, she takes off her heels, jams on her headphones, turns the volume up, and sings off-key into the mirror. (She also does this on a really good day. Only a very select amount of onlookers -- mainly her siblings -- can tell the difference.)

iii. She loves Martha to pieces. But she can't help but be jealous of all of the time her sister gets to spend with Jack Harkness outside of a dystopian apocalypse setting.

--

i. The second time, Tom Milligan falls in love with Martha after only a week: and he never quite figured out why. She just seems to fit into him, like stacked spoons.

ii. He can never tie a tie that stays tied. It is a running joke amongst friends, family, and co-workers. He's even bought books. With bloody diagrams.

iii. He comes from a large family -- he's the middle of seven children -- and because he learnt to drive on his parents' van, he still sometimes has trouble with small cars, after all these years.

N'awwwww. Why didn't I read this before? Now you really need to write fic. I would not object at all to some Tish!fic, nor to some Martha/Tom; I have a rather deep-seated fondness for that particular ship despite him showing up in exactly one episode and was kind of thrilled to see her engaged to him in S4.

She loves Martha to pieces. But she can't help but be jealous of all of the time her sister gets to spend with Jack Harkness outside of a dystopian apocalypse setting.

*CRACKS UP* You know, I'm sure if Tish wanted to spend more time with Jack outside of said dystopian apocalypse setting, he wouldn't argue at all. Whether or not Martha was there at the time too or not. I'm just sayin'.

Uh...hm. Okay, well, I'm gonna go for Ten, because I love him and he's adorable. And Luke Smith, same reasons. :p And/or Angel. Because...it's Angel.

Obviously you are a fabulous writer and we definitely want to see that mess of a novel you've been talking about it. Because it will most likely be good no matter what. :D

Oh, please do Sunshine! Try something about Rae's parents, or if that's too obscure, just Rae. :)
