Assorted excerpts from my week-and-a-half with [profile] lady_moriel.

some awesome things i did with kyra

- We went exploring in the sort of toyshop that, cruelty of cruelties, was not around when we were young, full of all of those fascinating and frequently educational toys we probably would have traded siblings for, discovered a set of large plastic dinosaurs lying about, and staged an impromptu re-enactment of Wash's monologue in Firefly.

- At her friend Calli's house, we watched and sporked Twilight, then cleansed our palates with Iron Man (if Tony Stark, the Doctor, and Topher from Dollhouse were ever in the same room, things would blow up -- a lot), and watching Calli play Portal, which is made of win, and then we watched the first episode of Chuck, and by the time Kyra and I got home it was one in the morning. Heh. Luckily, Calli lent us the first season of Chuck on DVD, and we ended up watching through the entire season in a week, much to Kyra's delight as she has been trying to get me to watch it for an age. Nearly every night we'd sit about watching Chuck and doing other things like organising stuff or computering or I don't even remember, but it was fantastic, and Chuck is made of win.

- There was one day when we discovered that we had somehow accidentally colour-coordinated our clothing. I had a ruffled ribbony teal apron-blouse and black skinny jeans tucked into Chinese silk-print boots and a choker with a lock; she had a teal-and-dark-blue puff-sleeved flowered blouse and an ankle-length blue tie-dyed skirt from England and Converses and a teal ribbon round her neck with a key on it. It was kind of fabulous. Also, yes, we are marvellous dressers, indeed we are.

- I've mentioned that we did a lot of shopping, but on the way back from a shopping trip at the big Anchorage mall we wandered around the city a bit and went down dripping alleyways and I wrote T.S. Eliot graffiti on the walls with a sharpie. And we drove around blaring Metric. It was brilliant.

- We discussed at length the uses and conveniences of a sword cane (Kyra has one) and if Mr Caruthers possesses one what it might look like. I was practicing with her sword cane, which has a twist-off top, trying to see how quickly I could get the sword bit out and stab someone with it, and finding it a little over-complicated to have to twist the top off because that would signal to my opponent and distract me for a valuable couple of seconds; with a lot of whirling and stabbing I managed to reduce movement to two twists, but it was still too cumbersome. Then Kyra's mother walked in (Kyra was... somewhere else. bathroom? shower? food?), asked bemusedly about the thumping noises, and I told her that I was practicing with the sword cane but it still took too long to get the sword out and I'd probably get killed in the time that lost. "Um... it's research. Yes." She shook her head and laughed at me. "You are exactly like Kyra."

Gosh, sword canes. I haven't thought about those in years.
My ex-boyfriend used to have one...actually, so did my brother.

Glad you had a nice week~

Yay! T.S. Elliot graffiti! He's very graffiti worthy.

Those three in a room together would be bad and kind of awesome. I mean wow.

Oh yes, and speaking of Tony Stark, have you seen the trailer for the new Sherlock Holmes?

AHAHAHA YES SO MUCH PRETTY BLOKES. It's a good thing I stopped being a book purist (for the most part) long ago, because this looks AWESOME. And a little cracktastic. Also, considering that Holmes is played by Robert Downey, Jr., he will probably be on drugs all the time. Which is practically canon anyway. :p

This is like flipping through a photo book and you relating anecdotes, 'tis. :)

Tony Stark and the Doctor and Topher would be CRAZY, and they'd probably manage to invent a new sort of time machine and reverse its existence all at the same time so everything would end up exactly the same except in the meanwhile it would be EPIC. /imagination >.>

Pictures, pictures! I bet you both looked lovely indeed. I almost bought you a pair of cameo earrings today at the fair but they were twice as expensive as I thought they were, sad day. Actually, are your ears even pierced? I feel like I should know these things before I buy people jewelry, ahah.

Also! I was telling someone about you today because your mix was playing, and she loves Patty Griffin like you do (she adores "Rowing Song") and she plays guitar and writes lots of songs and loves folk muchly. She told me to give you her myspace, if you wanted to look at it: http://myspace.com/laurenoglesbymusic :)

HAHAHA THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD REMAIN WOULD BE CAMERAPHONE PICTURES. and an empty fridge. (also pretty much my favourite thing about IRON MAN is that Tony Stark is the hugest nerd ever and Hollywood doesn't even make fun of him for it. N'awww.)

(I do in fact have pierced ears! You are sweet.)

Okay, where do you acquire such marvellously talented friends without even resorting to LJ? ;) You may tell Miss Lauren Oglesby that her music is simply phantasmagorical. ♥

edited because apparently it is too late for me to type without supervision. :/

YES THOSE and lots of empty chips/crisps bags, ajsdkfl; Everyone who knows of RDJ's awesome can't even form those kind of thoughts, probably. If I met him I would just be in awe. That man can do anything. NEED MOAR OF THOSE, HOLLYWOOD.

Huzzah! I shall find you ... something. No promises, though, life is hectic until I ... leave for China. I will send you something eventually or thou canst have my head.

Oh she lives across the hall from me. xD Dear me, I will tell her, and I know she'll be very pleased and excited. :)

Did Calli or I ever mention the part where we really, really want a Dresden Files movie made in which RDJ plays Harry? Because we really do. Seeing him in Iron Man and then in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang convinced me he'd be pretty much perfect, aside from the part where he's like a foot too short. BUT THAT'S WHAT SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE FOR.

AS I RECALL WE HAD KIND OF A SUBSTANTIAL CONVERSATION ABOUT IT. :DD (But it's TRUE. He would be beyond perfect and we should start a petition immediately.) of course then I would have a towering crush on Harry WHICH I CERTAINLY DON'T NOW YOU BE QUIET. But how epic would Harry-onna-big-screen be? *flails, then remembers it only exists in her head*

Well someone in the world needs to fill walls with intelligent graffiti, rather than illegible somethings. (I wish I had spraypaint, though: it would have been prettier & more elabourate.) ^-^

Sharpies are still good! You can get super-big, super-thick ones in many different colours, too, in order to make a it Dramatic, and things. *nods*

Aaalso it's harder to get caught and charged when you're using a Sharpie, I'd guess, you can be more discreet. :p

♥ ♥ ♥

You forgot taking pictures in piles of garbage on the road from Flattop (I can never figure out if it's spelled like that or Flat Top), or how I clearly had no idea what I was doing while I drove there and made the drive take about three times as long...or you calling my kitty "Giant Cat," which amused me a lot even though it's true, partly because I have known larger cats...or how, to our everlasting chagrin, Taylor Swift's very irritating "Love Story" will probably always remind us of your trip up here (although I suspect "Still Alive" will too, which helps a bit), or...I forget what else. Sleeping in too late. >_< And buying too much...

Which also reminds me that I have not updated any of my blogs in forever and I should really, really do that soon.

(For what it's worth, I was inspecting my sword cane again, and it really is pretty rubbish; the metal bits don't even want to stay where they're supposed to, and it only cost $20 tops, maybe less. I suspect a decent sword cane would be much more functional and well-designed; plus, since most of my swords don't just fall out of their sheaths, there's no reason a sword cane couldn't draw basically the same way. I would try to research this also except there doesn't seem to be much out there.)

Sounds like quite the marvelous week.
I would so liked to have been a fly on the wall to witness your re-enactment of Wash's monologue, which was too funny for words.

And Chuck! <3
