Dear self,

So, you have a hatpin. That's marvellous. Really, it is. And of course you want to keep it close. But the cupholder is not the place to do that. And really, if there isn't anywhere else, you could at least have the sense to remember that you stuck a four-inch pin in the place where your hands normally rest--and then not rest them straight on top of it. (You could even make sure the bedimmed thing isn't pointing straight up, but perhaps that's too much exertion.)

Oh, dear.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, at work we have these gun-looking things to attach tags to clothes (how else did you think those cute little plastic things get on there?), and there's a very sharp metal point on the end so you can stab it through jeans and stuff. Yes, well, I've pricked myself with it before, but yesterday I really slipped and stabbed it right into my finger. Puncture wound = Not Cool, especially since I can imagine all the things that might have gotten on that sharp pointy thing.
