Right, so, what does it say about me that I have spent substantial periods of time figuring out how best to make a record player work by magic? -- Look, it really wouldn't be that difficult; isn't the main way a record player works is by rotating, and the needle scratching along the surface of the record? (I have not actually seen very many record players in action.) In that case, one would simply have to charm it to go round, yeah?

...Yeah.

They do indeed go round, but you might need that levitation charm to lift the needle and place it back at the outer edge (I think that's right, anyway) of the record to restart it... or one to lift the needle, lift the record, replace it with another, and then set the needle back on. *nods*

We had one from the time I was born until I was about 13, and I was very sad to see it go.

We had to do a project in Advanced Psychology - my teacher gave us an apple, a needle, a piece of paper, and a record. We had to make the record play using only those things. We did. It was awesome. But yes, it's all about going around. :P

Pretty much, yeah - although I'd imagine that it would be fairly simple to replace the needle by charmwork, too, although once you get to that point having any mundane part of the apparatus at all seems slightly pointless, and you could almost get away without the actual physical record...
