i. Well, drat. Xanga is eating my entries. So I am posting here instead. Said entries mostly consisted of 'AGH THERE ARE ADOLESCENT BOYS INVADING THE PEACE AND SANCTITY OF MY HOME'. Which is to say that my brother is having a birthday party. Mostly they have been quiet, because they were watching a James Bond film (not, unfortunately, the one with JOHN CLEESE IN IT AHAHAHAHA) and are now watching Astro Boy cartoons, but they have had a good deal of sugar and I am just waiting for the storm to break.

The cake is quite good, though. (And I've got batter and icing smeared all down my cape. Oh, dear.)

And the pizza, which is Dad's doing, and he made me a bit with sesame seed crust, which is really very marvellous.

ii. You know what someone ought to make? TONKS BARBIES. I mean, come on, there are Lord of the Rings dolls. I want a Tonks one. With hair that changes colour when you put it in hot water. And lots of outfits to play with. (And [livejournal.com profile] lady_moriel tells me that there are Tenth Doctor action figures. !!!!! Yes, one of those, too, please. He can sit on my bookshelf next to Gollum.)

iii. There are some ramblings up on Ink & Chocolate concerning Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Paradise Lost, and Dubliners. And my musical coming of age.

iv. Edited to record this gem of a conversation:
Mum: Well, guys have issues we don't understand.
I: Yes, but we've got more issues--pregnancy, periods, mood-swings--
Brother's friend: EEW, PERIODS.
Brother: What's so bad about punctuation marks?
Mum & I: [nearly choke to death]

Mmm, Dubliners. ♥ I just finished it recently myself. His other books are really good too.

That conversation at the end was great! It reminds me of the few we've had here between my little brothers (three of them, though they are a little more understanding of how females work). I remember my sister having asked my youngest brother to get her the heating pad. He looked so scared afterwards and he pulled me aside, asking me if her having her period was going to kill her.

Right now I'm kind of angsting over Finnegans Wake's total lack of apostrophe. It really hurt to type that out. But I am rather interested in reading more Joyce, eventually.

Hee! My brother is thirteen, and has womanly issues explained to him, but he finds them so utterly horrifying that he blocks them out. (If my mother or I use the word 'breast', he admonishes us in a very shocked sort of way. ^-^)

ii. Great goblins, you are brilliant! Why has this not already been done? Whywhywhy? You should get on that, love (I'm over here writing Babysitting!Snape!crack, so am a bit busy at the mo'. *grins somewhat maniacally*).

iii. *looks about guiltily* *goes to read*

iv. And that, children, is why we call them full stops. (Seriously, though. Can I hug your brother forever now?)

'Cos people are idiots and I am wonderful; that's why. :D Seriously, my cousin's got a Hermione Barbie (I remember the Christmas she got it, too; I think we were eleven or so and I was still in my 'HARRY POTTER IS EVIL OMG' stage and was sort of morbidly fascinated by it), and Tonks lends herself so perfectly to toy gimmicks.

OH NELLE YOU ARE NOT. *pretends to be shocked and stunned* What have I done?

Re. 1: Suddenly, I am thnankful for being an only child. :DD

Also, I envy you the fact that your dad can cook. Mine just makes things blow up, most times.

Re. 2: I can't decide whether that's really desirable or really scary, but I will tell you that I have an Eowyn action figure and it is fun. ;) Also, I want a Ten one + TARDIS. Really really.

Re. 4: *dead of laughter* I always called them 'full stops', actually, so I took a moment to get the joke.

My father is a trained pastry chef, and he still makes things blow up. You'd think he'd have the sense to take the twist-tie off a bag of hot dog buns before defrosting them in the microwave. He still insists that the bag was never on fire; very selective memory, I think, because he's always going on about 'those times you nearly set the house on fire', when I only set the cupboards on fire ONCE, and that was YEARS ago. :p

HEEE. A friend of mine has a whole collection of LotR action figures, including a truly magnificant Black Rider + Fell Beast. There's another Black Rider, too, whose name is Quincy. He wants to be a chef. No, do not ask me to explain the reasoning behind this. o.O

Ah, but surely Tonks barbies are what most of us had at some point? You know, the one you attacked with scissors and gave punk hair and coloured in with a felt tip? Changing colour in water would be awesome, though. I'm working up to a Doctor action figure, I think - got a mini TARDIS and K-9 and a Dalek he can fight.

Hahahahaha at iv.

My first Barbie has almost no hair. This isn't really my fault--it all came out with years of brushing!--but my mother is undeterred and refers to her as Cancer-Patient Barbie anyway. There's another one who got nail polish on her face somehow, and I tried to shave it off with Dad's razor because we hadn't got any remover stuff. Yeah, that turned out really well. We call her Panther Attack! Barbie. I think I have a disturbed family. :D

My yearning for Doctor Who action figures is beginning to know no bounds. Maybe I could even sit him on my Black Death plushie! Awww.

ii. ohemgee, Tenth Doctor action figures??? If I got one, then I could set him up next to Nelle's Oscar Wilde action figure and ohemgeethesquee!!! Also, the Tonks action figures sound brilliant. Changing colour in water? Nice.

iii. Hm, will definitely be checking that out. How have I never been there before? Could I BE more of a slacker? Anyway, I'll definitely check it out. ♥

iv. -laughs- That's brilliant. It pretty much made my day. Wouldn't it be interesting/bizarre if instead of calling our cycles periods we called them full stops?

OMG DOCTOR AND WILDE. OMG OMG OMG. :DD I SHOULD GET A T.S. ELIOT ACTION FIGURE. And then I could put Eliot in the TARDIS, or something. And he could go disturb the universe. *glee*

*giggles* Go disturb the universe in the TARDIS? Really, Jo, that was an awful joke. (♥!)

OMGOMGOMG, WHAT IF there was an episode of Doctor Who where he meets Wilde and Eliot?? I mean, granted, Eliot was only 12 and still in America when Wilde died in Paris, but it could work somehow, right??

(I think I would DIE of the squee.)

There really ought to be Doctor Who icons with that quote. I'm surprised that I haven't seen any yet. ([livejournal.com profile] ressie_noldo, don't tell me I thought of this before you did?)

THAT WOULD BE THE BEST EPISODE EVER. ♥ Even better than the reported Doctor-meets-Shakespeare episode this coming season, which I am totally excited for.
