Invest in Malden!!

Er...in other news, today was completely rotten, I was irrationally emotional over irrational things, a frantic cycling through the rain and crazy Saturday drivers proved fruitless, and things were generally a wash, except that I did see Master & Commander tonight, and Monty Python's Flying Circus. ♥ (And blimey, I forgot how fantastically pretty M&C is! Can I hang it on my wall?) Also, [livejournal.com profile] avonleigh made a Remus/Tonks mix!! (I'm vexed that she beat me to it, but in my defense, I haven't got a particular song that is pretty much integral to mine. Also, I'm vexed because there isn't any record of Millay's "Dirge Without Music" being...put to music. In which case the title would have to be changed. Ack.)

By the by, the whole music exchange thing of the last post is still very, very open. *is totally not hinting. at all.*

Ooh, I've been working on a Remus/Tonks fanmix too. I've been at it for a few weeks and it's taking me forever because I'm being a perfectionist. But I've got about 14 songs right now, so I should be done with it soon.

Oh, goody! There's a profound lack of Remus/Tonks mixes about, while completely nonsensical pairings such as Draco/various non-Slytherin females get far too much attention. (I admit to a certain experimental fondness for a particular Draco ship, just because...it would be interesting to try to write convincingly. Um. Pretend I didn't say that. *hides under canon-nazi banner*)

Er. Anyway. Looking forward to it! I really have to tweak mine considerably, because most of the songs are too conventional and I'm sure most people have got them already. (Ack. Just looked it over. There is almost nothing interesting on there. Aaaack.)

There was "Different Stars". That one's interesting. Of course, the fact that you don't have it could be slightly problematic... (BTW, did you notice "Safe Sound" is up for download on Myspace? It lives on Sirius now.)

Oh ho, which one is that? (If you mean Dramione, I became mildly interested in it after a rational shipper on [livejournal.com profile] deleterius explained the appeal of the ship to me, such that I actually had a mild interest in writing it just to see what would happen...but I'm not sure my canon-nazi side would let me.)

Yes. "Different Stars" is totally spiffing. I just haven't got it! (And FYE doesn't have any Trespassers William! *emo* So, I can't buy it with the store credit I am going to get when I shove, like, ten of my old CCM pop gaggery albums upon them, eventually.)

Also, I WANT MY MOONY IPOD. *woe* And when you said 'lives on Sirius', that gave me all kinds of scary imagery. Wait, you said 'up for download'. !!! *flees*

DRAT YOU IT IS. *trembles* Gosh, I was just thinking about it for a lark, or something; I can't remember, except that the idea took down GIANT MUTANT ROOTS and is now FESTERING IN MY MIND. GUHHHHH. I mean, Hermione is the only one of the Trio who's actually for House-Unity-And-Yes-That-Means-Slytherins-Too, and I can see her--I don't know, maybe her being the one to stumble on Draco crying in the bathroom instead of Harry, and her being the most compassionate of the lot would likely feel some sort of weird compulsion to be relentlessly kind to him, and...yeah, that could turn into some kind of insane AU.

I can't believe I actually wrote that where people can see it. *hides under the desk and doesn't come out*

Argh, I really need to add Monty Python to my list of stuff to watch (except not really, because with the TV Kelsey watches, half of which--Lost, Heroes, and Jericho--I watch too, there's maybe one day a week the TV's not on obssessively all night, and I need to do homework, hang it all; and I managed to miss taping Doctor Who last night). I could use some funny. My day was slightly rotten too, mostly in that it was long, and as usual I did not sleep enough, and I got dragged along for a "short" shopping trip that was nothing of the sort and then stayed up late studying. The wrong book. Because I'm putting off studying for my exam on Tuesday by reading a book for a different class, because it was easier and I am just brilliant that way. And I am lonely, and I want someone to talk to me or at least notice that I exist, which is really really emo, but there you go.

And now I'm a terrible person for whining on your blog. Again. So I'm going to stop now.

Music. Yes. [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda has a couple lengthy Halloween mixes too (although I certainly don't trust hers; I'm going to download them all, obssessively read the lyrics, and then put only the good ones on my iPod...after Halloween, probably...yeah; and speaking of [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, you should really be reading her Lost recaps if you're not already, although she hasn't done this episode yet), and I worked on one of my own today. I swear. I made myself a "Halloween" playlist (yes, I know, my playlists have such creative names; the only mildly interesting one is "D.C. Sleeps Alone Tonight," my D.C. trip playlist--which so far clocks in at, like, 40 songs? Needs vast weeding--because it's a line from one of the songs and not the actual title) and dumped on it your four songs and the few of [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda's that I actually managed to download that didn't sound too weird, and then I spent basically the entire day at work listening to random stuff I've got on iTunes and putting quite a lot of it on the playlist. Will do more at work tomorrow and upload stuff, if teh intarwebs let me. Will probably be a long list, mostly described by "Well, okay, it's not really Halloween, but it sounds sort of creepy, and I really like it, and...well, I thought it fit. Shush you."

You've only got ONE TELEVISION?? :p Just kidding. (Although we actually have two, except we haven't used the second one yet and it's something Mum got for free and plans to use for something to do while on the treadmill, so it's languishing away in the basement.) Er. Well. You could always watch bits on YouTube, except some of them are funnily subtitled, and it's...just not as fun, unless you really know what you're looking for. Or you could try to get some from...someplace that rents DVDs. (And, um, if your PBS is anything like mine, it's probably on at some disgusting hour of the morning, so you could either tape it, or...do homework and watch Monty Python in the middle of the night. Or something. Er. Yes, I'm being really helpful, aren't I?)

I whine on your blog(s) all the time. 'S all good. ♥

OMG YES I AM READING HER LOST RECAPS. Eee. Yes. I found them in your memories and now I'm looking forward to them almost as much as the show itself.

Well, actually, we have two--er, three, I think, if you count the tiny one that lives on the floor in the disaster area family room, which we never use anymore. Our nice TV--our newer, flatscreen TV--lives in my dad's den, which means he's the only one who can really use it. The other, which is several years old, lives out here and is the only one we all use. Sometimes we tape things on my dad's TV, or rather Kelsey does, and I keep telling her not to, because something about that VCR doesn't work well with the other.

I watched...what...Bicycle Repairman and Ministry of Silly Walks on YouTube. Highly entertaining. I want a government grant to develop a silly walk!

Oh, Master and Commander! I haven't seen that movie in years! I should NetFlix it sometime soon.

Yeah, I hadn't seen it in two or three years, either, and while I'd liked it, I didn't fall madly in love with it. Now I have, I think. Eeeee. It is amazing. (Also, there are ACCENTS. Yay.)

*needs more access to Monty Python*

*hugs* I'm sorry you had such a rotten day; I hope today was better. I need to see Master & Commander... (And: *laughs malevolently* Excuses, excuses. :p No, really. I want yours. What song is it? Maybe I've got it? *laughs* That's highly unlikely though: ROT.

Er, putting Millay's "Dirge" to music would rather defeat the purpose, eh? *snerk* But really, I don't see why it has to affect the title.)

I haven't got any autumnal music! *angsts*

However: on the note of music, I thought you might like the only other Deb Talan song I've got, so here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/ospvx1).

Everyone needs more access to Monty Python. *waggles eyebrows*

The song is "Different Stars" by Trespassers William, which I listen to constantly on their MySpace, and it is serious love. (I'm also trying to get "On the Radio" by Regina Spektor and "Sometimes" by Holly Williams for a future Tuesday Skyline mix...don't know if you've got either of those, but I think you'd love "Sometimes", and the video is stunning.) And as I was telling [livejournal.com profile] psychicnagger, nearly everything on the giant mix I need to weed through is horrifically conventional. And most of it is Coldplay and Sixpence None The Richer and Eisley, all of which are absolutely wonderful bands, but too much of the same artist really drags a mix down. (But "Fix You" and "Swallowed in the Sea" and "The Scientist" are practically Remus/Tonks anthems! Basically, any Coldplay album will sound a lot like it was written for them.) Arrrghh. Although I think some instrumentals from Pride & Prejudice and Master & Commander might suit. Pretty classical.

I suppose one could just title it "Dirge". It's such a piano-and-strings song. I wish I'd got people to help me with it. It's got a good enough rhythm that I'd probably be able to set it to music, but it can't be a guitar song. It just can't. :p

Deb Talan!!! ♥ ♥

For remus.

Ah, okay, haven't got the TW one or "Sometimes", but have got "On the Radio (http://www.sendspace.com/file/w0sb5i)". (Must listen to "Sometimes" as I haven't heard of Holly Williams before.) And very well, but still. Find more. *grins impishly* (HOW TRUE.)

*giggles* I suppose. When we are both in Boston, I shall help you find people. (I'd help you meself, only I am not very musical.)

p.s. how much do I love your new layout? (SO much.)

I ♥ my new layout, too (although I wish it'd let me tinker with it a bit more; I hate having generic titles like 'links' forced upon me). And thankee for "On the Radio"!

Holly Williams is sort of alt. country, I think; I saw her video on CMT and almost fell off my chair. It is simply gorgeous and it's very difficult for me to seperate the images from the song. Also, it sounds like Tuesday. Yay.
